Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in both Counseling and Divinity. She has served as an adjunct professor for the graduate counseling program at Walsh University.
License:
Clinical counselor with a supervisory designation licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board.
Experience:
Mrs. Johnston has worked extensively with adolescents and adults who have experienced traumatic life events. She has served clients through the community mental health system, foster care and even the prison system. She specializes in assisting clients who suffer from trauma, depression, anxiety or grief as well as older adolescents who struggle with behavioral issues. She also serves couples and families. Given her dual degrees in both counseling and divinity, Mrs. Johnston is competent in the exploration of spiritual issues in counseling. The theoretical approaches she utilizes most often are cognitive-behavioral, narrative and solution focused therapies.
Personal statement:
I consider my role as a counselor to be a divine calling. I strive to combine my understanding ofclinical counseling theory and God’s Word to help the clients I serve reach wholeness in the vital areas of life which include emotional, spiritual and relational health. It is my sincere belief that God intends good for us all and when we align ourselves with his redeeming purposes we can achieve true contentment in life. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
