Experience:
Over the past 25 years, Mr. Sommers has worked with children and adolescents placed in foster care, adoptive placements, residential treatment and in community-based settings. The majority of his career has been in private agencies who work with youth exposed to trauma. He is a supervising counselor and enjoys providing clinical supervision to other counselors and those working towards their independent licensure. He also has personal experience with the lifelong process of adoption.
Personal statement:
We have all been broken people on some level at points in our lives. Through counseling we can improve our lives and the situations we sometimes find ourselves in. I believe the therapeutic relationship between client and counselor is a powerful tool to utilize to move towards positive change.
